The visions of the Copenhagen Trial Unit are to strengthen Danish clinical research in order to improve the prognosis of patients and to contribute to a world with more high-certainty findings in systematic reviews and randomised clinical trials, and less clinical research waste.

The CTU's missions are to:

• support, coordinate, and conduct randomised clinical trials in the primary and secondary health-care sectors. The trials may have preventive, diagnostic, prognostic, therapeutic, or care objectives;
• support, coordinate, and conduct systematic reviews of the literature based on meta-analyses, and participate in the international Cochrane Collaboration;
• participate in the development of methods for randomised clinical trials and meta-analyses;
• educate students, candidates, and researchers in evidence-based medicine, randomised clinical trials, meta-analyses, and trial sequential analysis.

The CTU's scientific social responsibility is:

The scientific social responsibility of the CTU is that clinical researchers, investigators, and assisting staffs, from all sectors of the health-care system, working at the CTU or together with the CTU, should position and define their research activities in a context where they are able to contribute to the betterment of our societies and to help meet the challenges of our time. All should strive to use the best possible clinical research methods to answer pertinent clinical questions.
